Our mission: providing more than a roof
Discover the heart behind More Than A Roof, where every story shared aims to foster understanding, inspire change, and highlight the true meaning of home.

Our journey and purpose
"More Than A Roof" began from a passion to highlight the often-unseen stories of those seeking accommodation. As a housing officer, I encounter individuals from all walks of life – ex-offenders, survivors of domestic abuse, refugees, and those battling addiction or mental health issues. This blog aims to shed light on the complexities of their journeys, celebrating successes and acknowledging the difficulties. We believe housing is not merely about bricks and mortar; it's about providing stability, restoring dignity, and fostering opportunities for new beginnings. Through our posts, we explore the challenges and rewards, aiming to inspire empathy and understanding.

Why this work matters to me
As a housing officer, I am deeply passionate about supporting people to turn their lives around and make positive changes to shape their futures. This work is profoundly meaningful to me because it offers a direct way to contribute to a more stable and hopeful community. Witnessing individuals overcome immense challenges and build new lives is incredibly rewarding, reinforcing my commitment to this vital mission.

Our distinctive approach
What sets our support apart is our belief in second chances and growth. I am not about punishing people for past mistakes; instead, I am here to support them in making better choices for their future. While many places might evict someone for drinking or drug use, we operate on a three-warning system. This approach aims to provide residents with opportunities to learn, adapt, and ultimately make more positive decisions, fostering a path towards lasting stability and self-improvement.
"This blog has been an invaluable resource, offering insights and a fresh perspective on the complex challenges faced by those seeking accommodation."
